Slow Burns Screening

Join us for the first screening of Dr. Pollie Bith-Melander’s new documentary “Slow Burns”. "Slow Burns" profoundly explores the lives of five military veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The documentary delves into their experiences during combat tours and the significant challenges they faced upon returning home, mainly focusing on their diagnoses of cancer and chronic illnesses. Through these personal stories, "Slow Burns" sheds light on the complex intersection of military service, health issues, and the aftermath of war.

Join us for a screening and Q&A  of Dr. Pollie Bith-Melander’s documentary film “exiled”. “exiled” is an ethnographic film on the deportation of Southeast Asian Refugees. It explores the myriad struggles of Cambodian refugees as they survived the Vietnam War, the Khmer Rouge, relocation to the U.S., and navigating the criminal justice and immigration systems.
